Everyone talks about how strong the odor is when you get to Covington… but I didn’t notice it…and as we got a tour of the restored C&O Passenger Depot and the freight depot next door… it was a treat to be inside.. shielded from the wind and cold temperatures… and what a back drop… the railroad history in the highlands is truly a cornerstone of some of the local communities… from photos and prints of Chessie the Cat from the marketing campaign that claimed the ride on C&O would allow you to sleep like a cat… to the trains that continue to run…
As we sat inside the depot… every now and then you would hear the sound of thunder and then like lighting a train with several cars would go flying by like something out of a movie…
WSLS 10 Photojournalist Greg Moore took these photos.
