Winning the lottery

Alison and I have continued running some since the marathon.. but sometimes the weather this time of year just doesn’t cooperate with outdoor miles… which means we have been relegated to indoor treadmills and elliptical machines… since we don’t belong to the same gym we have been logging miles separately for several weeks…

Tonight we actually ran outside and felt a few snowflakes toward the end… the weather was great for it… cold but not windy… and we got a chance to catch up on idle chit chat we don’t have time for at work…

Last year as we were really getting into running… we wanted to run the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in Washington D.C.. the event is so popular they had announced the date to sign up on-line… and spots for the race went as fast as Jimmy Buffet tickets… the website crashed because there were so many people trying to register… once it came back… we were told there were no more spots left…  all 12,000 spots had been filled in 2 hours and 45 minutes… it was a little bit disappointing because we were both looking forward to a beautiful run in D.C. which happens to be near Alison’s parents and in-laws house.

After the marathon in November we started trying to figure out what we wanted to do next…  this year the Cherry Blossom 10 miler was conducting a lottery… we signed up as a team because we want to run it together and didn’t want to risk one getting in without the other… we recently got the notice that we are in!!!

So.. “official training” for the 10 miler begins early February…
