Who doesn’t like apples?

I used to eat apples all the time until.. I ate one on my way from work to the gym… I was hungry and needed a snack… a piece of fruit seemed like a good choice until I got on the treadmill…

I was planning to run four miles and the first few minutes were fine but then I started to feel a little sick on my stomach… and developed this horrible taste in my mouth… it was as if my insides were on fire… did I stop running like I should have? Of course not… but I slowed the pace down a bit… still no relief… at the end of the run I felt so bad physically that the workout wasn’t at all rewarding…

I could just picture my stomach churning that apple the whole time I ran… nothing took away the nausea… not water… not eating something else… nothing…  I decided I would not eat an “apple” as a pre-workout snack ever again but figured I would still enjoy from time to time…

During the next week I bought some of those dried apple slices from the store… I thought they would be better than an actually apple for providing energy and perhaps would be burned more efficiently… at the end of that workout.. same horrible feeling only not quite as bad this time…

Ever since then… I don’t eat anything that has apple in it except “apple butter” on my toast every now and then (that never upsets my stomach), but the thought of eating a sliced apple makes me sick…

I got a fruit cup instead of fries from a popular fast food restaurant.. I had to pick the apples out of it (I have never been a picky eater)... tonight I went to another popular restaurant that offers.. bread… chips or an apple as a side… I didn’t need or want the bread.. same goes for the chips… I guess I could have given the apple to someone at work… instead I asked the cashier if they had another option other than the apple… he said they had a fruit cup.. granted I paid a little more for it but at least it won’t go to waste… and hopefully won’t make me sick…

I’m not sure if my apple aversion will ever go away… or even why I couldn’t get over the sick feeling from the two exercise incidents to begin with… my mom had a similar thing happen to her only instead of apples turning her stomach it was grapes that did the trick…
