I still haven’t been able to run since the marathon. My left knee feels better today but it felt good on Monday and after a 1 mile walk on Tuesday it was hard to get out of bed on Wednesday and Thursday morning. I am convinced it is my IT band and everyone tells me the best thing to do is nothing.. plus ice… plus Ibuprofen… so as I continue to rest.. I am confident I will be running again in a week or so… with that being said there are two local races that are worth checking out… not only does signing up for a charity race make you feel good about your donation to a good cause… setting a time goal or just planning to finish the race can keep you motivated during one of the most food tempting times of the year….
The Jingle Bell Run has been around for years and is one of my favorite events in the valley. The event raises money for Virginia’s Arthritis Foundation. It really gets you in the spirit of the holiday season. Race Day is December 12th. Click here for more details.
And the Roanoke Valley will hold the first Race for the Cure 5k in our area April 10th. The money raised from this event goes toward finding a cure for Breast Cancer. Click here for more details.
