To the top of Richelieu

I am really enjoying training for the SunTrust Marathon in Richmond… and tonight was one of my favorite short runs on dinner… I started out thinking it would be easy but then decided to challenge myself… and ended up running to the top of Richelieu Avenue in South Roanoke… not half way… not three fourths… but to the very top… the last short leg of it had me running on my tip toes it was so steep… then when I got to the top… I thought.. Now what?

So then I went to the top of Cardinal… and really enjoyed looking at the beautiful homes that are tucked away in the neighborhoods there… so many of them remind me of a dwelling from some sweet fairytale story… the designs are so unique…

Listening to my Nano’s new “Karen’s Run” playlist I was just gliding along… that is the best feeling when you really are in a rhythm… the weather was perfect… even though it is starting to get dark earlier… the “pinkish hue” to the sky was just beautiful… I had stopped working out much on dinner break before starting this training… I did most of my workouts before getting to work in the afternoon… but now I keep a bag packed in case I get the chance to go for a run… or hit the Y even if it is just to get an extra 30 minutes of cardio in…

I don’t typically have a solid plan for what I will do with that 30 minutes but at the end of the workout I am so ready to get back into work and get some serious work done—it is a great source of energy… people talk about the “runner’s high”.... it is great… I mean a great run can just can put you on a cloud… life is good…

This weekend we run 12 for the long run… next weekend we run 15 for the long run…
