I have not been taking advantage of a benefit I pay for through a payroll deduction every two weeks…. my plan allows for one free eye exam each year and will pay for a new pair of glasses or all but $25.00…
I have been putting of this eye exam for several years… my vision isn’t bad enough to require glasses or contacts all of the time… I have glasses that are for reading mainly… one eye has an astigmatism that has gotten a little bit worse… so today while I was at the doctor’s office I laughed and said I have glasses but I don’t wear them as much as I should…
He looked at me like that wasn’t the first time he had listened to that comment… he was very patient and I went through the vision chart test… the right eye is still as good as it was but the left is a little worse… at the end of the exam he said… “Ya see… the key here is wearing the glasses…” it was laced with just enough sarcasm for me to get the point… I went ahead and got a new pair of glasses with the stronger prescription in the left eye… meanwhile I am sporting my older lenses right now…
The woman handling my chart after the examination said - “Oh, I see he has you down to wear them all the time…” You won’t see me on the news with them… at least not right now… but I am going to try to wear them more often…. the sarcasm worked…
