Sweet 16

I had a few days off at the end of last week.  I would not call the time vacation because much of it was spent taking care of our “little old man” (Luckie Dog) -he had to have what is called an ACTH Stimulation test on Wednesday and he had a bad tooth that needed to come out… the tooth may be what has caused his nasal discharge that was originally attributed to a respiratory infection… the short of it is - his Cushings Disease is out of control - and he had to have the tooth pulled on Friday… so between the snorting and panting he has had a few very unsettled days…  the light at the end of the tunnel is that we think we may be able to finally get him back on track with his meds in a week or so…

Since he was feeling better on Saturday morning and we had someone to come check on him… we decided to go ahead to the Virginia Tech/Miami game… the game was so much fun… we got to hang out with friends before the game - saw the Hokies get a win and managed to avoid pneumonia… we were soaking wet… even with my four dollar rain pants and poncho I was soaked through… I over did it on the stadium junk food a little bit… even though I was running 16 miles on Sunday my digestive system is not used to pizza… pretzel… hot dog… etc…

Speaking of 16 miles… Alison and I had a great run yesterday… we broke up the long run into segments and by the last 4.5 miles.. it felt like a normal base run… kind of… I am definitely a little bit sore today… but the human body is an amazing machine that switches into auto-pilot mode when it needs to… I believe the switch got flipped for me around mile 14… our last mile is always the best because it is a little downhill and then totally flat… next weekend we tackle 18 miles…. the full marathon is 26.2… we’re getting there…  46 days and counting until Richmond.
