Spring wonderland!

In the last week or so our brandford pear trees have really bloomed… but they aren’t as full as they have been in the past…  they remind me of snow covered trees which is why I called this picture a “spring wonderland”  I have been wishing for spring and the end of winter cold temperatures so long I can’t believe it’s almost here!  One day I looked up and as if someone flipped the switch overnight blooms were all over the trees… tulips are coming up…. my hydrangeas are getting little green buds and our azaleas look like they are starting to get a little color back…

I won’t be growing any plants from seeds this year the way I did last year… one time was enough for me… but I have cleared a nice area in our back yard where there is a small stone wall for planting some colorful… “low to the ground” plants… our back yard gets the most sun during the second part of the day… any suggestions about some mixes that might look nice?  I often plant marigolds because they live through anything but would prefer something in the yellow or pink/purple family…
