Spring seems to be so close yet so far away… over the weekend I heard birds chirping bright and early and thought of spring… the annoying woodpecker has returned to feast on our wood-siding… and I ran outside this evening with my friend Alison and did not grit my teeth because of a cold wind.. or frigid temperatures… yet we are still expecting some snow to fall on Tuesday!
I am hoping this little system that moves through is winter’s last hoorah… I am over the snow… I am over the cold… I want my car to go through the car wash and stay clean for more than a day or two… I want my heat pump to stop running… I want to be able to see the sunshine after 6:00p…I can’t wait to see buds on my azaleas and fresh leaves on the dead looking trees… the only good thing about all of the snow we had was that it actually made everything look pretty instead of gray and empty - other than that I have little use for snow (we did go sleigh riding once - and once was enough for me in my adult years)
I hope that you are looking forward to spring as much as me - and if you have any ideas about getting rid of the woodpecker - let me know - we have tried the whole fake owl and snake thing—our roof has one of each… our woodpecker is wise to them…
The laugh was on me last summer when I thought one of the rubber snakes had fallen off the roof onto our front porch - as I bent down to pick it up - it reared its head and hissed at me… it wasn’t one of our rubber snakes… the woodpecker was probably in a tree somewhere laughing…
