Quietly Ringing in the New Year

The way the holidays I fall I usually end up working on the last day of the year… it is a fair trade off considering all of the other holidays I have off year round that mean much more to me than this one…. for some people December 31st is filled with excitement and anticipation of what is in store for the year ahead… for me it is more like any other day…

I don’t make resolutions… I live too far away to be home when the ball drops.. so it is me and Ryan Seacrest again this year or whatever DJ happens to be playing on my radio when the ball drops.. the funny thing is last year I remember looking at the clock in my car realizing that the time is off.. I started frantically skipping through the radio channels to try to find the count down… why?  I don’t really know… there I am in my car alone on my way home from work in the middle of the night.. counting down… 3….2….1.. as if a rabbit is going to pop out of a hat.. or someone is going to wave a magic wand or turn into a pumpkin…

Matt and I usually chat a little over the phone to wish each other a happy new year but other than that it is pretty much my normal commute.. some people might think that sounds a little sad.. I think… no hangover tomorrow.. and plenty of rest to start the New Year off with a fun “family run” I can usually talk Matt into running with me on holidays like Thanksgiving and New Years…

Since I already took all of my Christmas decorations down… instead of a chore-filled or even party-filled weekend I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend.. enjoying the mild temperatures with a fun run and then maybe a kayak ride and finishing off the first day of 2011 with some steaks on the grill…

I was blessed with a fabulous 2010 and can only hope that I have as many good things to look forward to in 2011 as I was able to experience in 2010… Happy New Year!!
