I continue to hear from people around me stories of dogs in horrible shape because of a breeder or puppymill owner. What ever happened to working hard for your money? There is no hard work or honor involved with caging animals and repeatedly breeding them for financial gain? I mean it really makes me mad.
Some of the people who are closest to me are more active on the front lines of animal rescue than I am but I try to help out when I can. As I talked to one of my friends to today my heart ached to hear her cry over the phone about two 8 week old pugs that were rescued from a breeder and are now being treated at a local animal hospital for Parvo. She told me about how Dalmatian Rescue of Southwest Virginia took the dogs in and is looking for support from anyone who could help out with the medical bills that are estimated to be $1000.00 per dog… What about the person who didn’t care for those animals to begin with… I guess it is okay for them to shirk any responsibility… Thankfully we have a lot of local organizations that are willing to try to clean up the horrible circumstances these individuals leave behind for poor defenseless animals…
The more I thought about the conversation on my way into work the more frustrated I got with the way the world sometimes works… There are so many of us with kind hearts who work hard to help out when we can… Then you look around and see the lazy and lowlife attitude some people have regarding any form of life? What happens to those people as they are growing up that desensitizes them and takes away any compassion for life? It is upsetting to witness.
