If you have read some of my past blogs you know of my love and somewhat obsession with greek yogurt as an afternoon snack. Blueberry and strawberry are my favorite flavors.
Yesterday, I brought peach yogurt for my 4:00pm snack… when I went upstairs to our break room to put something in the fridge… I realized I also had a blueberry yogurt in the door of the fridge… with my name on it in very large letters written with permanent ink…. so I decided not to pack any yogurt today but to eat what I already had here at work…
So… after our afternoon editorial meeting… as I am answering e-mails etc at my desk.. I decide to head upstairs for my 4:00pm snack… to my dismay the yogurt has disappeared!!! I mean GONE…. not in the door of the fridge… not on any of the shelves…. but whoever took the yogurt left my perfectly labeled string cheese and protein shake… but helped themselves to one of the tastiest treats ever… Do you note the sarcasm?
I know it is silly to be as bothered as I am by the vanishing yogurt… but it’s about more than not getting my daily dose of greek yogurt… it is about a lack of respect for another person’s stuff… it is about expecting that the people around you are courteous and have basic manners… I mean… who eats someone else’s food without asking?!?!?!
I have decided that if in fact it was someone who didn’t have money to eat or food of their own and was really hungry… that at least if they had left a note or sent me a quick e-mail apologizing or at least mentioning that they had helped themselves to my favorite snack I could have planned ahead and pack some from home.
Oh wait - I don’t have any at home that was my last one… I could have stopped at the store on my way into work… it is not about the cost - the yogurt is $1.19 on any given day… I would gladly buy the person who took mine… several containers… if they would promise not to take my last one ever again.
