McNew’s Miscellaneous Updates

Salem was great!!  We were a bit chilly but we were dry and that is all I could ask for tonight.  A ver sweet couple came out to watch the show live Steve & Barbara Krzysko from Salem braved the elements with us.  We had plans for a much bigger crowd and more festivities.. .while Ida put the breaks on that… hopefully people watching from their warm living rooms got the chance to experience what Your Town is all about and learn a little bit about one of the many great communities we have in Southwest Virginia.  Thanks to our crew who braved the cold with us… Mike, Ryan, Jarrod, Mike, Amit, Brian and of course Melissa.

Other McNotes:

*Thursday night (November 12th) our entire 6:00-6:30p half hour will be dedicated to providing people with information about H1N1/Swine Flu concerns and vaccine availability.  Our phone bank will open at 5:00pm - watch WSLS 10 for the number to call we would love to answer your questions about the illness.  A panel of people from The Virginia Department of Health will be on hand to answer your questions.

*This weekend is the Richmond Marathon - house and dog sitter.. check… hotel reservation.. check… packed.. no check… nerves.. check.. excitement.. check.. the weather is looking pretty good for us… let’s hope Ida keeps moving out of here… Right now the rain should be finished by race time at 8:00am and forecasters are calling for a high of 62.. that is actually good.. according to a Runner’s World article - 50 degrees is ideal.

*Luckie dog is spry as a puppy these days… he is technically “104” in people years and while it may take a little to get going once he does.. teh excitement he shows chasing me or Matt around the yard is truly heart warming… he’s our little “Puppa-luppa-gus”  (after Sesame Street’s slow Snuffleupugas character) -we call him “Gus” for short sometimes - we have more nicknames for our dog that we do for each other.
