Just the other night I ran outside with a friend and for the first time in a long time the temperature felt perfect… chilly but not too cold… a little bit of a breeze but no wind tunnel - it was nice!

But, some of my snowy runs have actually been kind of fun… sometimes I take my Blackberry with me in case there are any good pictures to be had… I couldn’t resist taking a picture of these turkey tracks… some Hokie fans have a track just like this in orange on their car in decal form… I had just seen the decal on a car the week before this run and so when I saw it in the snow it made me chuckle…
The tracks also made me think of our family of turkeys we often see several times each year crossing the road together or just hanging out in our neighbors yard… I didn’t know turkeys could fly until one came a little to close for comfort as it was crossing the cove near us last year…
Any sign of life in the dead of winter is a good sign for me… because everything looks so drab and grey and still… I have received several comments from people about daffodils poking through the snow…
Sandy in Dublin e-mailed to tell me that “Hyacinths are up almost 6 inches as well.”
I have been keeping an eye on our Bradford Pear Trees too… they are so pretty when they are in full bloom… then they make a huge mess of our driveway afterward… but they are worth it…
Here’s to more turkey tracks (in the dirt not snow) ... birds chirping… and trees blooming in the very near future…
