Making resolutions

I usually don’t make resolutions… in part because I am stubborn and like to make changes in my life when I want to make the changes.. not because of a date on the calendar…

I am not motivated to work harder toward a goal because it is the beginning of a new year… but I understand how some people might like to make a “fresh start” and find it fun to declare a major goal on January 1st…

I think of resolutions as changes we don’t want to make.. but know we should make because we will be better off.. ie.. exercise… spending less money etc…

One loyal WSLS 10 viewer e-mailed with a bit of a twist on the whole thing.. suggesting that a resolution should be something fun… the viewer’s resolutions are as follows:

I resolve to lighten up in 2010. (That will make life more pleasant for others as well.)

I resolve to dance more. (That will work toward the exercise I need.)

I resolve to try paint-ball. (There’s that “stimulating the economy” again…)

I even resolve to drink more and socialize more (I’ve become a tee-totaling hermit).

I must say the e-mail made me smile and reconsider my “bah humbug” attitude toward the New Years tradition…
