“Look Better Naked”

If you read any of my blogs you know I read a lot of health and fitness magazines and some on line resources interest me too… One of my subscriptions is to Women’s Health magazine… inside this month’s edition there is an advertisement for a Women’s Health book called “Look Better Naked”  it has a 6 week eating plan and metabolism boosting tips including different strength training suggestions…

I was in Blacksburg with my mom this morning and after we had our bagel and coffee.. I told her I wanted to see if the store we were in carried a book I saw in a magazine… I purposely left out the title of the book… not sure why just was a little embarrassed… then I could not find the book.. not under diet.. not under health.. and the only person at the help desk was a guy…

I show the page from my magazine to my mom so she would know the book I was looking for - I said I would ask but I don’t want to say the words out loud to the guy working at the desk… my mom is too funny… she said… “Do you want me to ask for you?”

I chuckled a little because it occurred to me that I am an adult and should not have to let my mom ask for a book for me… so I went up to the desk and just showed him the advertisement and said “Do you have this book?”  (A barely dressed Heidi Klum is on the cover)

He said, “Heidi Klum… let me check”  He looks up the title and says they have one copy in the “exercise” section… I I had just turned around when I was looking at the diet and health books I would have been able to avoid the minor drama that actually ended up being a funny mother/daughter moment.

So I start looking at the book and it was about 25 bucks… so I flipped through the pages… because it takes a lot to get me to pay that much for a book unless I am really going to use it as a resource… the diet plan was interesting but I knew I would never go to the store and buy everything that it would take to follow it strictly and the exercise tips were great but not enough for me to pay that much for it…

So after all of that I told my mom I wasn’t going to get it… because it was 25 bucks.. She jokingly said what did you think it would be? Five?

Instead I ended up buying a magazine and now that I know where to find the book I can get it in the future if I want.
