It was an early morning for me Saturday for the Johnny CASA 5 mile run and 5k walk… but it is always easy to wake up on race day..especially when you are helping a group of great people dedicated to a wonderful cause. About 154 people came out to participate and helped raise about $7,000.00 for the Southern Virginia Advocacy Center. I had a great run of 41:26 which is an 8:17 average pace and I met a new friend along the way. Nicki Alexander was my “pace-car” for the first part of the race. I usually randomly pick someone ahead of me to keep pace with. I had been running behind her for a while when she looked over her shoulder and said we seem to be running the same pace. A quick friendship was formed and we finished 2 and 3 in our age group.
I am still working on getting pictures to post.

Karen, Thank you for all you do to make our event special. It is fantastic that you take the time to come out to run with us and Emcee. I was a little behind you @ an 8:21 pace. I need to pick it up!
