I have a busy few weekends ahead with events that I am going to be helping out with across our area but the one in the nearest future is the Johnny Casa 5 mile run 5k walk at Smith Mountain Lake’s Lake Watch Plantation this Saturday. I’ll be there helping the organizers kick off the event this year.
Last year was my first year helping out and running in the race. I along with all of the other runners and walkers got soaked! I believe it was hurricane Alison that was coming through - I know it started with an A at least.
But, everyone participated anyway because the event raises money for children in Franklin County who need someone to be their best advocate when they are in a situation that appears to offer little support for such an innocent group. The event benefits the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center.
