My lunch meeting today as part of the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis planning committee was great!!! We have a lot of exciting things planned for this year’s run/walk and for next year’s 20th anniversary.
This year’s HCA Virginia’s Jingle Bell Run is Saturday December 12th. It is a 5k run and 1 mile walk. But, if you just want to be a part of the holiday fun that goes along with the event in down town Roanoke we also need volunteers. If you are interested in helping out call 1-800-456-4687. Your contact information will then be forwarded to a local representative who will get in touch with you to find out which aspect of the event would suit your talents best.
So far, we have three times the number of runners and walkers signed up this year compared to the same time last year. I am really excited about this year’s event and all of the fun we will have during the festive beautiful time of year in Roanoke.
Also, if you are a business owner interested in being a sponsor of this year’s event or next year’s 20th Anniversary blow out celebration please e-mail me and I will get you the sponsorship details. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Thank you to all of the sponsors who are already on board for one or both of the events.

A quick update to my marathon training. This weekend is our last major run before the race. We will be logging 20 miles on Sunday. Since the greenway in Roanoke is blocked in one area it was difficult for us to navigate a 20 mile relatively flat run in Roanoke that was not chopped up into a million pieces. We will be going on a road trip to take advantage of some of New River Valley Trail and its flat dirt surface that will likely mean less wear and tear on our knees than any pavement path would have. We are now 22 days away!

Also, I have a couple of days off - Friday and Monday… but thankfully they are not sick days just some restful time off to spend with my mom who is visiting.
