The LewisGale Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis is my favorite local 5k… in large part because I love Christmas.. the holiday cheer that comes with the sound of more than 1,000 people running through downtown Roanoke…
Sometimes it is cold.. and sometimes it is colder.. sometimes windy and sometimes snowy.. but the goal is always the same.. to raise money to help Virginians who are battling Arthritis.. a debillitating condition that will likely affect all of us as we age.. it comes in different forms and affects all ages… young and old and in between.
This is the 21st year for the event.. I am proud to be a part of it..
WSLS 10 sponsors it along with Q99 and LewisGale… there are so many other local businesses and groups who help us… this year Chik-Fil-A will be selling “Jingle Bells” at its Valley View and Souther Hills locations in Roanoke from Black Friday until the December 10th event… all of the proceeds go to the Arthritis Foundation and in return for your support.. you will receive a coupon for a free chicken sandwich on your next visit… Panera has helped us for several years by donating bagels for our hungry participants to enjoy after the event… the Arthritis Foundation is our WSLS 10 3 degree charity for December.. and Bubblecake is donating the proceeds from babycake sales to the Arthritis Foundation on December 7th… so you can get some chicken.. a cupcake for dessert.. and enjoy them both as you are watching Storm Team 10’s 6:00p and 11:00p forecast to check out how we are doing with the 3 degree guarantee.
