If dogs could talk…

This morning as I was getting ready to leave for work - there was Luckie dog spread out… belly on the floor with his hind legs and front paws stretched out as far as possible… He was at the top of the stairs to our basement where Matt’s office is located patiently waiting… as Matt heads downstairs for work Luckie is always right on his heels… once he gets downstairs he plops down on his dog bed or curls up right at Matt’s feet under the desk.

As Luckie was waiting and Matt was finishing up in the kitchen.. we began a dialogue of what we thought Luckie would be saying if he could talk… I was asking the dog what he was waiting for and Matt responded, “Well, I like going down to that cool basement… its the perfect spot for sleeping.. all cool and dark..”  Then, I responded, “Yep, it is the perfect doggy den…”

If someone had been listening to us they would have thought we had lost our minds… I do believe that most pet lovers behave in a similar way so perhaps they wouldn’t have thought us too peculiar.

Matt and I got our wires crossed the other day and Luckie got his food later than usual… when he started attacking our stainless steel circular trash can in the kitchen… Matt asked me if I fed Luckie… I said no… Did you? He said no….

If Luckie could have gotten his fat little beagle butt inside that trash can and eaten all that was in it he would have…

What would he have said… What the *$#@!, you *&%@s give me some chicken and crunch!! (we always mix a little chicken in with his hard food)

Perhaps, it is good that dogs are better listeners than talkers.
