Tomorrow is my last run and will be my first.. first hand “farming” experience… my father in-law is planting a garden this year and since my in laws live nearby I thought… hmmmmm - I love fresh produce… right now we don’t have the “up-front” money in our budget for a crop share program.. although I think they are great… so maybe my father in law will let me in on a little “family crop share” program…
When I asked Gene about it.. he said sure… so I have bought my seeds for planting… squash… beans… peas… cucumbers… watermelon… radishes.. you name it and I plan to grow it… just talked to him tonight and he has already disked and tilled the garden.. but now it needs to be raked out…
He started the raking and mentioned that I could help out.. but didn’t have to… well I can’t bear the fruits without doing any labor and still have a cliear conscience…
So tomorrow I will incorporate farming/gardening into my last “training run” for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler -
I plan to jog 2.5 miles to my in-law’s house… rake out the garden for a bit to get the little clumps of grass out so we can create rows for planting.. then jog back home and get ready for work… we’ll see how it goes.
