I was out of the office last week… and spent part of it in Florida with Matt visiting his parents… we were in Sarasota near a beautiful beach called Siesta Key.. the weather was a little bit chilly but it was still a nice and relaxing trip…
It started out with a rainy trip from the airport to where my in-laws are staying… about 45 miles of sheets of rain… if we had not had GPS we would not have been able to navigate all of the exits and road signs… along the way in the distance was something that looked like it came right out of some Sci Fi movie… at first I thought I was seeing things…it turned out to be a toll bridge…
We had a couple of relaxing days on the beach… Siesta Key is an enormous beach with white sand that is mostly made from quartz and as fine as flour to the touch…
People in the “retirement community” we stayed in always had something going on… Monday morning looked like a horse shoe tournament of some kind… or perhaps Monday is always horse shoe day… I didn’t ask…
We drove by an enormous statue that is the same size as one I have seen in Key West… the size alone is breathtaking…
Even though temperatures were in the 60s people were still taking advantage of para-sailing… knowing how chilly I was kept me from calling the number on the parachute to inquire about cost… it had to be cold up there…
One different mode of transportation I noticed while we were there was an adult tricycle… they were everywhere and I guess safer than a bike… then we got home to more rain…
But today made up for it… it was absolutely beautiful… I got a long run in and have been getting a lot done at work today!
