WSLS 10 will be visiting different local cities and town’s throughout November for our “Your Town” series. We will be broadcasting live from different area locations and reporting stories regarding those areas leading up to the live broadcast. Before we broadcast live from your home town we will be holding town hall meetings to listen to what people in the community really want us to focus on.
In addition to getting your one on one feedback Jay and I are really excited about a new feature we have on our website that will allow members of local communities to have access to their own virtual community billboard through http://www.wsls.com.
What did we learn tonight… we need to make sure we are clear and concise with the times and purposes of our “town hall meetings” Jay mentioned tonight that before the most recent health care debate - “town hall meeting” had a different from what some people think of these days. We are not talking about health care at these meetings. We are talking about how you can be an information leader in your community through http://www.wsls.com.
When you log on to http://www.wsls.com, click the Community tab which is between the words “weather and crime” along the top of our site and then your city, town or county… Click here to go directly to the Salem section of our site.
Tonight we got all kinds of good feedback from residents of Salem… the importance of high school football to some really innovative initiatives going on in Salem City Schools. Keep in mind what you post to your community bill board does not have to fit into any kind of category. You can post information about church gatherings… upcoming carnivals… fundraisers… whatever you want the people in your immediate area to know about. If you just want to send out a birth notice from your family or post a picture of your prize winning rose bush… it doesn’t even have to be prize winning.
Computers have become the “norm” for communication in so many ways that it just made sense for WSLS 10 to offer a way for you to place all of your important and interesting community information in one place.
We know this is new for you. It is new for us too. We will be talking more about the new web feature in our news casts and during our shows on WSLS 10… we hope you will join us in this exciting venture that we hope will bring our communities closer together and us closer to your communities.
Thank you to the folks from Salem who came out tonight.
