Embracing Change

This morning as I was eating my breakfast of fresh fruit, a bit of greek yogurt (remember I am obsessed) and my Cran Bran Vita-Top muffin top.. I was trying to decide what I would do for exercise before work… since I have signed up for the Suntrust Marathon in November I have been changing up my miles and workout more and more…

I have been running near the house or doing weights in our basement because it is easier and takes less time… I decided to go to our “Y” and when I got there realized it had changed quite a bit since I was last there… the weights are all out in the open now… and the room where I used to take my dumbells was filled with stationary bikes… I was immediately taken out of my comfort zone.. my routine interrupted… I figured I was there so I might as well just go about my workout - and the change of pace was nice… then it was time for cardio - I had taken a magazine and planned to get on the stair climber or bike to read it and get in about 45 minutes… then I looked outside and thought for a change I would run through Lakewatch Plantation.. the neighborhood where the “Y” is located… after I had been running for about 8 minutes I realized why I don’t see a lot of people leaving the “Y” for a run - the hills are enormous… I plugged along and again decided a little change is good…

One of the highlights of the trip was helping a little turtle stuck in the middle of the road get to the other side before a car came along and squashed him…  for some reason I always feel compelled to help turtles crossing the road… even if I am in my car - there have been several times when we have passed one in the road and Matt just gives me this look… like… “You want me to turn around so we can save that turtle don’t you?” and then we do…

Ultimately when changes happen in our lives… even the big ones and perhaps especially the big ones… we may not understand them or appreciate them at first… but in the long run I believe flexibility creates positive footsteps we have yet to walk in…
