Last week Matt mentioned taking the kayak’s out on Smith Mountain Lake on Sunday since the forecast was calling for 55 and sunny… and what a great idea… it was a challenge to get the new kayak down to the dock because our yard still has a good 6 inches of snow and the steps are partially covered but I was on a mission to make the most of the warm weather…
We didn’t really have any major destination in mind as we headed out of our cove… so we headed toward one of our favorite wakeboard spots… I thought it would be cool because it winds around and eventually gets pretty narrow… along the way I heard my oar hit something hard… then realized I was moving through a bunch of ice bits…
I didn’t think much of it… then we got almost all the way to the back of this cove and the lake was completely frosted over… You could actually move through the slush… it was awesome…
We just sat there for a little while… because it was so peaceful and quiet… I think a little bit of me is still there…
