Blackberries.. 401Ks… and a Trail Run… Oh My!

I just got back to work after a four mile challenging trail run on dinner break with Alison (my marathon training partner) - that puts me at 20 miles for the week so far.. now just add 6.2 to that and condense it into 4 hours and the marathon is in the bag…

I finally got my Blackberry in the mail yesterday… it took a full day to charge so when I got home late last night I really wanted to try it out and check out all of the features but I didn’t have a chance to because I had to get up early this morning to drive to Roanoke to meet with the financial planner… so now Matt is ahead of me on the Blackberry learning curve and texted me a half a dozen times last night… in part because he could and it was free… I guess he was also just thinking about me too…  right now I am connected to it on my face book “wall” and my yahoo e-mail.. I type really fast on a keyboard but am still getting used to the tiny version… perhaps the best part about my new “technology tool” is that it is pink in color :)

Am I on the road to retire at 55?  Well… our financial planner had a maybe answer for us on that… long story short he needed some more details about what exactly we are investing in right now to determine if there was something better out there for us… he was very thorough and easy to understand but I must say I was a little distracted because all I wanted to do was set up my e-mail account on my new Blackberry… so now I need to gather some more information about how much long term disability insurance I have etc…

And I had a shoot today with a woman who has battled breast cancer… lost everything because she did not have insurance… lives in an RV in Salem with her husband and might be one of the most optimistic people I have met in a long time.. I thought I was tired after the busy day I have had - she reminded me that any day we are given by “the man” which is the way she refers to God… is a good day…
