A “break” from technology

I am not known for being graceful.. I am clumsy in many ways.. I drop things.. break things and sometimes just forget things.. I have tried to get better about this over the years.. as a grown-up I still feel like a kid sometimes…

My mom spent a few days with us for Thanksgiving.. on Saturday morning we went for a walk.. the lake was beautiful and still.. so what did I do?

I got out my handy Droid to snap a picture.. and one.. two… smack!!!

You don’t realize how hard pavement is until you see what happens when your smart phone hits it… shattered… ugggh!!

My great energy I had going took a bit of a hit at that moment.. but my sensible mom said, “Karen, it can be replaced.  You work hard.  Get another one.  You have insurance right?”

Thankfully, I do have insurance… and I decided that I was not going to let something so silly ruin what had been for the most part a great break from the daily deadlines I am used to dealing with… I carefully put the phone in my pocket and the stress out of my mind…

Typically that little incident would have sent me over the edge… but not Saturday.. I just moved past it…

The day was great.. I called about a replacement phone.. yes there is a deductible.. but I already have the new phone in hand… and a little break from my friendly Droid has been nice…

Don’t get me wrong… it’s not like I was completely phone free… I still had my Blackberry… which is my work phone…
