5 months to Memorial Day

We got snow at Christmas… and now I am ready to move on to the next season..

Right now I am on week two of my “better me” diet courtesy of Whitney Ray… my boot camp instructor… who knows her stuff.. .and I have amped up my cardio and strength training I am on a mission to maintain and improve my fitness… soon those sweaters will be packed away.. they mask the cookies that we eat when we think no one is looking…

Over the weekend I took advantage of some on-line bathing suit sales and now I have added motivation to keep this fitness train moving full steam ahead..

I’m not sure about you.. but I find it takes some small rewards along the way to keep my motivation for working out and eating healthy… yes… I love to run.. but it is still work… it still takes time and keeping my goals in front of me keeps me motivated… Here is one of my keys to staying on track:

*Plan meals and plan for pitfalls - I spent part of the day Sunday cooking and mapping out what my meals would be this week - it saves time and makes it easier to stick to a regimen - planning for pitfalls means - I know I am going to want to splurge on sweet treats or junk food at some point so I make sure I have a substitution to eat instead of the real sugary fatty food.
For example - I make protein cookies to have as a snack instead of the real thing - it satisfies the cookie craving - they taste good… are filling and you can have 2 of them for 100 calories and 7 grams of protein - so - you don’t have to feel guilty even if you have 4 of them.

I let my mom try one - her words, “They are good…. not great… but good.”

Good luck to you if you have started a new plan or if you are just getting back in the swing of things.
