You can’t blame David Wilson for turning pro

Here’s the main reason I believe David Wilson decided to skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft:

Because by the time he’s my age, 35, he’ll more than likely be retired.

That’s right—- retired.

It’s hard to imagine retirement when you’re in your 30s isn’t it?

In fact, the chances are better than not that by the time Wilson’s 35 years old, he’ll have been retired for *several* years.

I don’t think any athlete in professional sports faces more punishment than running backs.

By the time they’re 30 they’re basically looked at as being done.

Why would you want to take one more year of punishment at the college level when you could be getting paid for it in the NFL.

Remember some of the hits Wilson took this year alone?

I’ll never forget what I heard one former NFL player tell me many years ago.

He said the hardest hit you took in high school, that’s how hard you get hit all the time in college.

And then he said the hardest hit you took in college, that’s how hard you get hit all the time in the NFL.

And he wasn’t talking just the games, he was also talking about practice.

My guess is that the league told Wilson that he’s probably a first round draft pick this April.

So really he had no choice.

I’ve never interviewed him or spoken to him personally but he’s been fun to watch in high school and college.

I say best of luck to him and I hope he gets paid a lot of money.

60,000 people didn’t show up today at WSLS to watch me work.

But this fall, 60,000 people will show up at a NFL stadium to watch Wilson and his craft.

That’s why I believe these guys deserve the money.
