Vick’s reality show sheds light on quarterback

I know its a reality show… er uh… “documentary,” but it still feels like we’re seeing the real Michael Vick.

Vick’s show airs weekly on BET, Tuesday nights at 10 p.m.

I watched an episode for the first time earlier this week.

  I was pretty impressed.

It seems we’re seeing a down-to-earth, contrite, and sincere Michael Vick.

I know what he did was horrible but I’ve still always felt like he was indeed very remorseful.

Although some will feel it’s far from a fair comparison, let’s compare Michael Vick’s news conference in Richmond shortly after pleading guilty to dogfighting charges in August 2007 to Tiger Woods’ recent news conference in California.

Vick allowed reporters to watch (I know because I was there).

Tiger allowed “a select group of friends.”

As I recall, Vick allowed multiple cameras

  Tiger allowed two.

I can remember watching Vick come out with no notes or teleprompter, then speak from the heart as he apologized.

Tiger used a verbatim script, sometimes using a stone expression as he looked into the camera.

Let’s face it, Vick is allowing these cameras to follow him around for money.

And he needs money (believe me, I’ve looked at his bankruptcy filings on-line).

But I think, and I hope, the real Michael Vick is starting to come back.

  The friendly Michael Vick.

The down-to-earth Michael Vick which made him so popular in Blacksburg and Atlanta.

One things for sure, he has no room to screw up again.

Some people still haven’t forgiven him for the first one.
