Keeping along the lines of yesterday’s time line, here’s what happens the morning after you put a toddler in bed too early after his birthday:
My son Jack turned 3 on January 28th.
We gave him his presents Thursday night at around 6:45. Bed time is at 8.
He wasn’t ready to go to bed.
He went anyway.
Here’s what happens Friday morning:
5:05 AM: (this is as told to me by my wife): Jack wakes up and says “I want to play with my new toys.”
6:05 AM: Wife leaves for workout at gym.
6:06 AM: Jack walks into my bedroom. Announces himself. Says “It’s time to get up!”
6:10 AM: Comes back into room, orders me to “put on” his “costume.” His costume is a Spiderman outfit, one of his birthday presents.
6:15 AM: Comes into room and orders me to take off his costume because it’s “itchy.”
6:25 AM: Back in room, Jack wants me to load one of the “shoot guns” he got as part of his Batman castle birthday present.
6:33 AM: Can’t get back to sleep since there is apparent war going on in living room between the forces of good (Batman) and the forces of evil (bad guys from pirate ship birthday present).
6:40 AM: “Dada, will you come play with me?”
6:50 AM: Loud crash in living room. I was almost asleep.
7 AM: “Dada I’m hungry!”
Okay I’m up!
