Seven courts in one day

I know some of you don’t like going to court.

Especially to pay a speeding ticket or jury duty.

But I can tell you some of the best people I work with work in each court’s clerk’s office.

There’s my friend Nadia in Roanoke County circuit court clerk’s office.

Constance in Roanoke circuit’s criminal division.

My buddy Tracy in Chance Crawford’s Salem circuit court clerk’s office.

I’m making friends in Appomattox County circuit since I’m calling there everyday too.

Here’s a look at what I did today (I dealt with seven clerk’s offices in one work day):

(I must confess, all times are approximate, I mean I can barely remember what I had for lunch)

9:10 AM:  Checking search warrants in Roanoke city circuit court clerk’s office.  Find nothing (I would’ve said hi to Constance if I’d have seen her).

10 AM:  Call Appomattox County’s juvenile and domestic relations court clerk’s office for the latest on Chris Speight.  Nothing new so far.

10:10 AM: Call Appomattox County’s circuit court clerk’s office.  No new search warrants on Speight.

10:45 AM:  In Salem circuit court clerk’s office pulling information on registered sex offender Mike Webber.

11 AM:  Roanoke County’s circuit court clerk’s office to check search warrants (none since Jan. 1).  Say hello to Nadia.

11:05 AM:  Get a clerk to run Webber’s name through Roanoke County’s district court computer.  Nothing comes up.

11:30 AM:  A judge okays me to see a copy of Webber’s latest warrants in Roanoke County’s juvenile and domestic relations court.

11:55 AM:  Back at Salem circuit court clerk’s office to look at something in Webber’s file I should have looked at before.

So there you have it, seven court clerk’s offices (either on the phone or in person) before lunch.

And all treated me great.
