Perriello reacts to being on Sarah Palin’s “watch list”

In case you didn’t see it, I interviewed Congressman Tom Perriello today over the phone.

Someone cut a gas line to his brother’s propane grill.

A threatening note also showed up at his brother’s home.

All this happened *after* Perriello’s vote for that historic health care bill some of you love, and some of you hate.

Two TEA-partiers also published the brother’s home address on-line, mistaking it for the Congressman’s.

But we don’t know if whoever was behind this was a TEA partier or just somebody’s idea of a sick joke.

You can see the story on-line.

Before I hung up, I had to ask Perriello one more question.

How does it feel being on Sarah Palin’s “watch list”?

Palin has basically said she targeting about two dozen Congressional races where she’ll help defeat the incumbent Democratic candidate.

The Congressman laughed, took a slight jab when he said he “takes some comfort in the face she hasn’t seen a lot of things through to completion” (no doubt a remark about her resigning as Governor of Alaska with quite some time left in her term), but then finished by saying everybody’s got a right to be involved when it comes to the voting booth.

It’ll be interesting that’s for sure.

Perriello only won by a little less than 800 votes last time.

The Republicans have yet to pick their nominee but some polls show Perriello in a tight race with one in particular (State Senator Robert Hurt).

Now before you start emailing me telling me how much of a “Republican” or “Democrat” I am, how I’m soooo “bias”, I’m not endorsing anybody here.

And I’m not saying anything disparaging about Sarah Palin either.

I’m just saying the race for the Fifth District in Virginia is going to be very interesting this summer going into the fall.

It’ll make for lots of good television and the campaigns will be spending lots of money for ad time—- which is good for all of us in the newspaper, radio, and tv biz!
