More on what’s next with Chris Speight

On April 6th, the Appomattox County grand jury will meet to consider several new charges against Chris Speight.

From what we know from court records (primarily search warrants), press releases, news coverage, etc., here’s what I think we can reasonably suspect the grand jury to consider:

Murder charges on Jonathan, Karen, and Emily Quarles.  Also Bo Scruggs, Shannon Sipes, Joshua Sipes, and Morgan Dobyns.

Possession of some sort of explosives, or possibly manufacturing explosives (investigators said from the beginning they found suspicious devices on the property and I know for a fact the ATF is involved, which is always a good indicator).

Shooting at a Virginia State Police officer piloting a helicopter (the chopper got hit at least half a dozen times as I recall).

And usually a gun to commit the alleged murders.

Of course the commonwealth’s attorney could choose not to present some indictments, or the grand jury could return a “no bill”, meaning the panel thought there wasn’t enough evidence to indict.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Some of the search warrants I’ve seen claim Speight has also confessed to at least one investigator.

Let’s keep in mind Speight is innocent until proven guilty.

Even Robert New, who lost one of his best friends and a brother in Shannon Sipe, told me he wants justice to run its course.
