Local high school & College football forecast

We’ll start with Saturdays:

Virginia Tech:  11-2.  The running game will be special with Williams and Evans.  I worry about the defense.  I’m predicting a win over Boise State to open the season.  Tech will be 9-0 heading into Chapel Hill on November 13th and lose at North Carolina and lose the following week at Miami.

UVA:  5-7.  I like the new coach (Mike London) and I think there are enough parts there that will fit into his system.  They need more speed and talent across the board to become competitive and I think that’s a multi-year project.

Tennessee (where I’m from): 5-7. The NCAA snooping around already about the brief Lane Kiffin era is not good news.  I project probation and more scholarship loses sometime in the next 6 to 8 months.  This is a program that may not be competitive again in the SEC for another four to five years.

Middle Tennessee State (my alma mater):  11-2.  The Blue Raiders win the Sun Belt!  Watch their quarterback Dwight Dasher.
