JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater is a knucklehead.
Unless you’ve been camping somewhere in the deep reaches of the Jefferson National Forest for the past few days, you know this is the clown who cursed a passenger, grabbed two beers, then slid down that inflatable slide thingy-dingy to end a JetBlue flight.
Something tells me this guy will have his own reality show before too long—- I’m serious!
“Now it’s time for the brand new hit ‘I Quit’, with your host Steven Slater!”
Slater could help participants find the most explosive ways to quit their jobs to the excitement on millions on television!
I wouldn’t watch because I think this guy is a knucklehead.
Knuckleheads don’t get to supervise others.
Knuckleheads never get the corner office.
Knuckleheads are never selected to go to the leadership conferences for the corporate up-and-comers.
The guys who end up being managers and chief executives never cuss out a customer under any circumstances.
Leaders are always calm and collected.
Knuckleheads fly off the handle, grab two beers, and then slide down slides.
I remember the last important lesson I learned about being a knucklehead.
I challenged a viewer who emailed me on a story about air traffic control.
The viewer was rude and total jerk in his emails, but instead of being calm and collected, I chose to get in an electronic mail argument with the guy for the next two days.
What did it accomplish? Nothing. I spent two days being a knucklehead. The viewer spent two days telling me I was an idiot.
I asked my boss about it and she said it’s best to thank those viewers for watching and leave it at that.
Calmness and coolness, why my boss is my boss, and a lesson learned that I hope will one day make me an effective manager.
