I’m sometimes asked, who’s the most famous person you’ve ever interviewed?
Well I’ve interviewed high profile politicians such as Mitch McConnell, John Edwards (the former Senator and Presidential candidate from NC), John McCain, and Bob Dole.
I’ve talked to Hollywood directors like John Carpenter and one of the guys who made “The Blair Witch Project.”
I’ve asked questions to coaches like Frank Beamer, former UNC basketball coach Bill Guthridge, and of course Seth Greenberg.
I’ve interviewed athletes like Vida Blue, Bruce Smith, and the late Reggie White.
But by far, the name most people always seem to recognize is former professional wrestler and current actor, Stone Cold Steve Austin.
It was during my 16-month stint at WBKO, an ABC affiliate in Bowling Green, Kentucky (actually the only station in Bowling Green, KY).
I’m a wrestling fan so I volunteered for the assignment.
Stone Cold did his normal middle-finger waving, semi-foul mouthed stick.
He then drove a monster truck over some cars and shot-gunned several beers.
Before I turned the camera on, I identified myself as “Scott Leamon with the ABC affiliate.”
I’ll never forget what Stone Cold said: “I’m Stone Cold Steve Austin from the WWF affiliate.”
