Cable news heavy hitters work Sunday to cover historic health care vote

Some of you will likely take this as a sign (or maybe even confirmation) that I have no life but I watched all three cable networks coverage of the historic health care vote last night.

I thought, for the most part, all three networks did well.

FOX News called on ratings giant Bill O’Reilly to work his normal Monday-Friday 8 o’clock time slot.

No matter what some of you may think of him, O’Reilly is usually fair and definitely was last night.

CNN used its now patented Election Night style panel to cover the story.

Panelists included respected correspondent John King and Democratic pundit Donna Brazile.

It was pretty much par for the course.  Brazile (being a Democrat) loved the bill, just like Charles Krauthammer (being a Reagan-style Republican) hated it.  Krauthammer weighed in over on FOX News.

I thought MSNBC also did a fair job.

All the networks seemed to understand this was a very historic night no matter which side of the political aisle you sit.

And I think all learned from the ‘08 Presidential nomination coverage that you should leave the cheerleaders for another day—- and spend *the* day simply covering the big news story.

Your pundits will have plenty of time later.
