Virginia Winters: Not That Bad

My introduction to Virginia’s winter has been much better than what I imagined.  It has been so warm!  This week we’re supposed to see highs in the 60s!

I was prepared for six inches of snow, driving on icy roads and wearing five layers of clothing to keep warm.

My boss likes to laugh about my first editorial meeting when our morning meteorologist Patrick McKee said snow was a big possibility and my eyes grew about ten times their normal size.

Parts of southwest Virginia saw a few inches of snow a couple weeks ago, but Roanoke has only had 0.4 inches so far this winter.

I’m definitely not complaining, although I’m reminded constantly there’s still more than fifty days to go before spring…. so we’ll see what happens!

Until then, I’ll be thankful for the days I’m too hot outside because I wore too many layers instead of not enough!
