My passion in life is politics. Political websites are the first thing I check every morning and go to them often throughout the course of the day. I know that makes me sound like a huge catch! My other passion is television -- both television news and entertainment programming. So, I have been lucky enough to find a career that allows me to marry both.
In television news, we only get so much time each night to tell all the news of the day, political and everything else. So, this blog gives me the opportunity to give some more in depth analysis and content on politics.
No. Sometimes I’ll fill you in on what’s going in my life, my lawn, or my dogs. Generally, I’ll be writing about what’s intriguing me. Usually that’s politics. But sometimes something else will catch my attention.
ABSOLUTELY! The one consistent in every blog is this: I would love to get your feedback. Think of my blog as the jumping off point for a conversation. Sound off whether you agree with me or not. Let’s have some fun.
Yes, as often as I can. So ask away.
As often as I can. My goal is every day. Some weeks I achieve my goal, other times I don’t. Don’t hold it against me when I don’t.
Yes and no. You will certainly find more edge to my postings here than you will during any of our newscasts. And, on appropriate topics I will give my opinion. These situations might include the weather, some current events topics, or something personal. But, you won’t find me giving my personal opinion on abortion, stem cell research, guns or any other hot political issue. I won’t offer up how I voted. I won’t provide politically-slanted commentary. Instead, I will try to add some perspective to the news of the day, add my analysis from decades covering and observing politics, and sometimes point out factual errors and even the hypocrisy of our elected leaders.
Now, that’s my end of the deal. Again, I would love for you to give your opinion to what I have written and to the topics I have picked. Don’t hold back.
Writing this blog: Since September 2008. Covering politics: 11 years. Showing an interest in politics: since 3rd grade. I was inspired by my third grade teacher who made us write a book report about someone we admired. I picked Theodore Roosevelt. I was hooked from that point forward. That interest has led to a White House Internship, 3 national party conventions, a job in Washington, DC, countless family trips to historic landmarks, presidential homes and libraries, and our nation’s capital, and this career.
No. I like asking the questions, not answering them.
