What’s worse than the snow? The wind!

It’s official. I’m over this winter. I know you’ve heard me complain about the snow more than once. And, I know that some of you like the snow… even love it. Trust me, I’ve gotten the phone calls and emails.

I’ll admit that the first couple of snowstorms were actually fun. It was nice to see snow. It was pretty and came close to Christmas which helped put me in the holiday spirit. But week after week after week of the white stuff has left me snow-weary.

I grew up the Texas Panhandle where we routinely endured some harsh winters and plenty of snow and ice. I generally describe them more like a Kansas winter than a South Texas winter. And that cold weather was always accompanied by wind and lots of it.

One of the plusses to a Roanoke winter has been the lack of wind… that bone-chilling, hurricane force blast that can cut straight through you. Unfortunately, Wednesday and Thursday of this week brought that wind.

I’ve spent four weeks complaining about the snow. Now I remember there is something worse: the wind.

I’ll take 5 inches of snow any day to 40 mile-per-hour wind.

We’re just 37 days away from spring… I can’t wait.
