What’s happening this week…

I’m starting a new segment on my blog. Every so often (hopefully on Mondays), after having assessed the week ahead, I plan to write a little about what I’m looking forward to and what I’m thinking about.

So, here’s what’s happening this week…

I’m on day 8 of a 25 day work week. Karen and I are doing the weekend news for February thanks to the Olympics. As some of you may remember, I anchored weekends for five years from 1998 to 2003. This weekend felt like old times!

Speaking of the Olympics, I caught portions of the opening ceremonies on Friday in between tapings, etc. It seemed like Canada pulled out all the stops included every Canadian who has ever had a successful entertainment or sports career… and I mean EVERY Canadian. It was pretty cool for 3 hours, but I’m not sure about 6 hours.

And, as I’m doing a countdown of things, we are now on week 9 of winter and I can’t tell you how over it I am. While the snow is fun while it’s coming down and it’s even pretty for a few days after the initial fall, a week later it’s just a nuisance. It’d dirty and now icy making it a hazard for drivers and pedestrians alike. Come on spring!

My mother is having her left knew replaced today. She had the right new replaced three or four years ago. We are all a little nervous about this. Keep her in your thoughts.

I’m soooooo not a Valentine’s Day fan. In fact, it’s probably my least favorite, manufactured “holiday” of the year. So, here’s to Feb. 15th and no more V-Day stories… until 2011!

Finally, I have several meeting for Big Brothers Big Sisters this week. I’m on the board and we’re working very hard to keep this great organization afloat during some very difficult economic times. It’s hard to measure the incredible impact BBBS has on our communities. I’m proud to be a small part of it.

So… that’s what’s happening this week… at least as of today. I wonder what the week will look like by Friday?
