What’s happening this week… August 30th?

What’s going on this week… August 30th?

It’s the last week before the unofficial kick off to the fall campaign; although, the campaign already seems fully engaged. The ads have already started for some of the candidates, the debate over debates is already worn out, and the onslaught of emails and news releases is overwhelming. Still, I would expect that we will start seeing even more ads starting next Tuesday with all the candidates going on the air and the outside groups jumping into both the 5th and 9th congressional district battles.

It’s week two of classes at Virginia Tech and this week we’ll really start talking about conversational writing. So far, this class has been very engaged. They even laugh at all my dumb jokes!

Speaking of Virginia Tech… the WSLS interns started this week. We have a great group of six interns from Virginia Tech this fall. I had all of them in my broadcast writing class and this internship should help them further their COMM education even further.

This weekend can be summed up in two words for me: YARD WORK. It’s time to start weeding and prepping the beds for the fall and ultimately the winter. I already have some leaves down.

That’s the week ahead… at least as I see it right now.
