What’s going on in this world?

I am going to file this past week down as what in the world happened.

We awoke Friday to news that President Obama had received the Nobel Peace Prize. I am not making a political statement one way or the other about his deservedness for this award. But, I would love to meet just one person who wasn’t just a little shocked by this news. Just one person. Even President Obama was shocked.

Then, we learned late last week that NASA spent tens of millions of dollars to fire a rocket into the moon. And it didn’t work… at least not as well as NASA scientists had hoped. Aren’t we in a recession, with a government racking up huge bills and record deficit spending? Do we really have the money to waste on projects like this?

Over the weekend, the Washington Redskins lost to the Carolina Panthers… one of the worst teams in the NFL. Keep in the mind the Redskins should be undefeated right now, having had the easiest schedule of any NFL team up this point of the season. I mean, they’ve played the Lions, Rams, Bucs, and Panthers. It’s the loser’s bracket! And still they have struggled barely beating two of those teams and losing to two more. Sigh.

So, here we are. What’s going on in the world? Perhaps this will be a more normal week… maybe?
