Washington: Stop playing games with our taxpayer dollars

Recently, Republicans in Washington have been complaining that President Obama and Congressional Democrats are spending too much money on the War in Afghanistan, health care reform, and government bailouts of the auto industry and Wall Street.

I have to agree with them. It is concerning the amount of money our government is burning through. I often wonder who is watching out for our finances.

But, I find it interesting that the Republicans have all the sudden found this interest in the overspending of our federal government. Where were they when President Bush’s Medicare Prescription Drug Plan doubled in size? Where were they when we spent hundreds of billions of dollars fighting the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? Where were they when President Bush was pushing through the first bail out of Wall Street? They were silent, particularly on the funding of the wars.

All of our leaders, regardless of party, need to worry about how to wisely spend our money. And, they should have that concern regardless of which party is controlling the agenda in Washington.

To the Republicans and Democrats alike, I say stop playing party politics with our hard-earned taxpayer dollars. Spend it wisely, as if it was your own.
