The flu… or something… has hit Virginia’s Senate delegation.
I have been told that Mark Warner will not be on the campaign trail for the entire weekend because he has the flu. His communications director, Kevin Hall, told me that Warner visited the Capitol Hill physician and was diagnosed most likely with seasonal flu. He was given antibiotics. Hall said Warner had not previously received either the seasonal or swine flu vaccine.
Hall said Warner has been feeling under the weather since Tuesday or Wednesday. Warner did one campaign appearance with Deeds in Woodbridge Friday morning, but then went home.
Warner was supposed to be in Floyd with Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds Friday night and then campaign with him through Southwest Virginia on Saturday. He hopes to rejoin Deeds on Monday as he campaigns across the commonwealth before election day.
Sen. Jim Webb and Gov. Tim Kaine were also supposed to be at the event in Floyd. Our reporter was told Webb left the event because he wasn’t feeling well. We don’t know what was bothering Webb.
Kaine was there with Deeds. He received the seasonal flu vaccine several weeks ago in Lynchburg at an event promoting the vaccine. He has not received the swine flu vaccine.
