TCU was screwed in the BCS system

So, my dream, and the dream of all TCU fans almost became a reality Saturday night as Texas pulled out a late save and beat Nebraska by one point with one second left on the clock to win the Big 12 Championship and advance to the national championship game.

Had they lost, there was a chance either TCU or Cincinnati would have taken Texas’ place in that game, facing off with Alabama.

Of course that didn’t happen. It’s part of the problem when your team is at the mercy of the performance of another team in a game you’re not participating in. It’s so much better to control your own destiny.

But, even more frustrating than that was what officials did in placing the teams who would play in the BCS games. TCU was paired with Boise State. Both are from non BCS conferences. That stinks… BIG TIME. I would have loved to go against Florida or Texas or Georgia Tech to prove that we can play at that level with the “big boys” and still dominate.

Instead, we’ll be playing Boise State who we beat last year in the Poinsettia Bowl. Sigh.

The only plus to the pairing was that the Fiesta Bowl and the National Championship Game will both feature all unbeaten teams. Meaning, we should be ranked second in the country if we defeat unbeaten Boise State.

It’s not the national title, but in this case all TCU can hope for is second best. That is, until next season! Go Horned Frogs!
