Is it just me or are we seeing and hearing the same campaign commercials over and over and over?
As an example the Deeds and McDonnell ads on APCO rates have been on the air for at least a month. We have also heard their repetitive tax radio ads for at least six weeks.
I get the news releases on all their new ads with Mark Warner, and the McDonnell thesis and ads defending McDonnell’s thesis, and ads attacking Deeds’ answers on taxes. But, I haven’t seen these ads in our area.
In fairness, I do watch most of my television through my DVR. That means I can fast forward through the commercials. But, I haven’t even seen any new ads fly by at three times the speed.
What does this tell me? That SWVA is not the battleground in this year’s election. No, the battleground in 2009 is Northern Virginia. That’s where the money is being spent and the new ads are going.
So, while we’re bored with the same ads around here, I imagine the people in NOVA are sick and tired of the constant barrage of ads coming their way. And that is only going to get worse as Nov. 3rd approaches.
