Public Policy Polling has a new poll out that shows President Obama in decent shape as he heads into the 2012 reelection.
According to the poll… Obama leads Mitt Romney 48% to 42% and leads Newt Gingrich by an even larger margin of 7points, 50% to 43%. He also leads all of the other Republican candidates including Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul.
PPP credits Obama’s standing to his strength with his base including young voters, core Democratic voters, and African American voters.
Yesterday, PPP released another poll showing Newt Gingrich up big in Virginia over Mitt Romney in the race for the GOP nomination. Gingrich has the support of 41% of the primary voters compared to Romney’s 15%. That is an astounding number.
PPP also found George Allen with a commanding lead in the GOP nomination fight for the US Senate and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli easily defeating Lt. Governor Bill Bolling in a possible GOP match-up for the 2013 gubernatorial nomination.
It should be pointed out that Public Policy Polling has ties to the Democratic party, but it’s polls have generally been very reliable in Virginia.
